Space;Space Shuttle; NASA; This was the Artist's (Ted Brown) concept of how the solid-rocket boosters (SRB's) are to be separated during ascent when the Space Shuttle is about 28 miles above the earth. At the time of this rendering it was anticipated America's reusable transportation system would become operational in 1981. The prime contractor was Rockwell International Space Systems for designing, developing and building the Space Shuttle orbiters and integrating the entire Shuttle system. 12 3/4 X 15 1/2 inches. VVG.
